Mimi: Digital Prints Leaked Online Resulting in Prepone Release
All Bollywood lovers were waiting for the release of Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi starrer ‘Mimi’. It is one of the much-awaited films of 2021 which was supposed to be released on OTT platforms Jio Studios and Netflix on July 30. But the things have been changed recently as the film has fallen victim to online piracy and is leaked on torrent sites and telegram in HD prints.
The film has been directed by Laxman Utekar, and the trailer was released a few weeks ago. Right after the release of the trailer, Mimi had received great responses from audiences and critics alike. As the film has hit the piracy sites like TamilRockers, Filmywap, Onlinemovieswatches, 123movies, 123movierulz, Filmyzilla, etc.
The first copies of the movie are available on a chat-based app and makers are set to take legal actions in the case. Piracy has been a great issue that the Bollywood industry has been facing since long. Various reports have claimed that OTT release of the films is at higher risk to piracy and thus various laws need to come into place.
Apart from Kriti Sanon, Mimi also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Saie Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, and Supriya Pathak. The film is a story of a young woman, who becomes a surrogate mother for an American couple. Directed by Laxman Utekar and is a Hindi remake of Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy! that was released in 2011. The film is currently streaming on OTT platforms Jio Studios and Netflix.
Earlier this year Salman Khan’s film Radhe was also released in various piracy sites. An FIR was filed in the case and a couple of offenders had also been arrested. The offenders were trying to sell copies of ‘Radhe’ for Rs 50 through various online platforms.
