
On Soumitra Chatterjee’s birthday anniversary, a short film Boitarani released
On Tuesday, Anindya Dutta directed film was released on digital platform to celebrate the 86th birth anniversary of Soumitra Chatterjee.
Boitarani, a Bengali short film starring fictitious star Soumitra Chatterjee has been released on OTT platform and YouTube.

The main lead of Boitarani (The River Between) is played by the late thespian. Beside getting released on YouTube at the dedicated IP of a production house (SVF) where people can see the 29-minute film, it’s also being streamed at an OTT platform.
The story revolves round the lifetime of widower Sougata Roy Choudhury (played by Soumitra Chatterjee), an eminent poet who is being honoured by a literary society to possess a serene holiday at Kusumpur forest, the director said.
“For widower Sougata, this is often also an shake the estranged family of his careerist son and as he traverses the journey, an issue storms his mind, ‘where does man escape after all?’ He tries to seek out the solution altogether that he could achieve in life. As a mysterious village girl appears before him suddenly, he realises that there’s a river that flows in between to separate life from death. None can shake the suddenness of crossing it at the top ,” Dutta told PTI.
Soumitra Chatterjee gave up the ghost last year in November.
