Veteran Music Composer Vanraj Bhatia Passed Away: A Great Loss for the Entire Bollywood Music Industry
Veteran music composer Vanraj Bhatia who is well known for the exceptional music compositions breathed his last today. This popular music composer was suffering from age-related issues and was bedridden from the last few months in his apartment on Napean Sea Road.
He was a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Music Direction, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padam Shri. He has gained wide appreciation for his work in Shyam Benegal’s ‘Ankur’, Naseeruddin Shah starrer ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ and more. Some of his memorable works in Hindi cinema are ‘Manthan’, ‘36 Chowringhee Lane’, ‘Junoon’, ‘Bhumika’, and ‘Mandi’.
Mourning the loss of such a great composer, many Bollywood celebrities reacted to this unfortunate news. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta tweeted, “RIP Maestro”, Farhan Akhtar wrote on social media, “RIP #VanrajBhatia… Apart from the many other brilliant musical works he created, I vividly remember the theme of ‘Tamas’ that started with a shriek so filled with anguish, it could send a chill up anyone’s spine and break anyone’s heart.”
