“Laal Singh Chaddha” - PIL Demands Ban of Movie for Disrupting Peace in Bengal

Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' keeps on pursuing controversy, the most recent one being a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) calling a total boycott of the film. This PIL had been documented at the Calcutta High Court by BJP leader and lawyer Nazia Ilahi Khan. As per her supplication, the film defames the Indian Army and thus she has looked for a boycott of the film claiming it is 'likely to cause breach of peace'. She has also supposedly expressed that displaying the film in theaters may compromise the law and order situation in the state and that security should be posted outside theaters.

Beforehand, members of the Sanatan Rakshak Sena in Varanasi had staged a protest against the film at a shopping center. Sanatan Rakshak Sena state president Chandra Prakash Singh expressed that subsequent to watching Aamir Khan's last film 'PK', it was clear that the actor mocks Hindu God and Goddess and makes unrestrained comments on them. The association spoke to individuals to not watch the film and, submitted a memorandum to the Station House Officer of Bhelupur.

'Laal Singh Chaddha' is a remake of Hollywood film 'Forrest Gump'. Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie is facing the boycott trend since release. Responding to such reactions, Aamir had recently said, “I feel sad. Also, I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their heart, they believe that I am someone who doesn't like India. In their hearts they believe, but it is untrue. It is rather unfortunate that some people feel that way. That's not the case. Please don't boycott my film. Please watch my film."

The movie has only earned Rs 55 crore at the box office in two weeks.
