Genelia Deshmukh makes a comeback to South Indian films with Kireeti.

The as-yet-untitled film starring G Janardhana Reddy’s son, Kireeti, had a grand launch this Friday, with none other than SS Rajamouli as the chief guest himself. The film is scheduled to go on the floors by the end of this month, as director Radha Krishna is excited to have managed a casting coup with multiple surprises for fans.

Radha Krishna further shares, “I am pleased to have had such a good launch with such fanfare. I am excited to get to the set now. The introduction teaser has received a good response. The film is a youthful family entertainer dealing with the issues of Gen Z and is very contemporary in its treatment. I am happy that we got all the actors on our minds. Kireeti is a young and energetic guy who is a fabulous dancer. So we wanted someone who was equally energetic and could match his moves. Sreeleela was the perfect option because she has the added bonus of knowing both Telugu and Kannada and is popular in both industries,” said the director.

The other big surprise is that this film marks the comeback of Genelia Deshmukh. “There is an extraordinary role in the film, and we were keen that Genelia should play the same. It took us a little while to reach her, but she said yes within half an hour when she heard the story. It all happened when we were shooting the teaser, and I got to know she was free for a call. So I went on a Zoom call, following which we had a meeting in Mumbai. She is thrilled to come back to South Indian films, as she has had many requests from fans. So this film will mark her second innings here,” shares Radha Krishna.

The film will also have a much-loved pair - V Ravichandran and Khushbu Sundar - seen together after a very long time. “We wanted to bring back those golden memories that fans have. I rapport with Khushbu ma’am as they had remade my film Mayabazar 2016. They both loved the script and readily agreed to be a part of the film. Apart from these five primary cast members, we will have other popular comedians and more actors,” Radha Krishna concludes.
